19 November 2024 — Mary Lou Valdez, ��鶹��Ʒ’s Deputy Director, along with Rodrigo Monrroy, Project Management Advisor for ��鶹��Ʒ Forward, and Paul de la Croix-Vaubois, Human Resources Advisor, met on November 12 at ��鶹��Ʒ headquarters with a delegation from the United Nations Volunteers (UN Volunteers) Program, led by Lita Paparoni, Regional Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Bogotá, October 29, 2024 (��鶹��Ʒ) - The ��鶹��Ʒ and the National Institute for Drug and Food Surveillance (Invima) of Colombia held the XIX International Pharmacovigilance Meeting and the face-to-face regional meeting of pharmacovigilance focal points (FV) of the Americas.

The event addressed and discussed the challenges and opportunities in pharmacovigilance, the most recent innovations in this field, the strengthening of regulatory systems, the preparation for future pandemics and the planning in the region of the next steps for 2025.

WHO is pleased to announce the theme for the 2025 World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) campaign: “Unmasking the Appeal: Exposing Industry Tactics on Tobacco and Nicotine Products.” This year, the campaign will focus on revealing the tactics that the tobacco and nicotine industries use to make their harmful products seem attractive.

Washington DC, November 12, 2024 (��鶹��Ʒ) - The ��鶹��Ʒ (��鶹��Ʒ) supported the XVIII Pan American Nursing Research Colloquium, held November 6-8, by the School of Nursing of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, in Santiago, Chile. Under the theme “Innovation and impact of nursing research and leadership,” the event brought together more than 600 participants from 16 countries, with a scientific program that included the presentation of more than 700 studies relevant to nursing education and practice.

This newsletter arose as part of the support of the ��鶹��Ʒ / World Health Organization (��鶹��Ʒ/WHO) to the regulatory systems of the Americas region in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, to technically support the proper introduction and surveillance of the safety and efficacy of vaccines and drugs.

Washington, D.C., October 31, 2024—The ��鶹��Ʒ (��鶹��Ʒ) held a workshop on alcohol taxation at the ��鶹��Ʒ headquarters in Washington, D.C., with policymakers, experts, and academics from Brazil, Colombia and Mexico to discuss the role of alcohol taxes in addressing public health and economic challenges in the region. Organized in collaboration with Vital Strategies, and Johns Hopkins University - Economics for Health, the event focused on how excise taxes can serve as a cost-effective measure to reduce alcohol-related harms.
